History

Heart failure is one of the leading causes of death in Singapore. In the advance stages of heart failure the prognosis is worse than many cancers. Many new medical and device therapies are showing promising results have developed in recent years. There is a need to increase awareness to promote these new therapies for the benefit of heart failure patients in Singapore.

A group of cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, nurses and allied health professionals passionate about heart failure therapy first met on the evening of 14 th Nov 2016 to form the Heart Failure Society for Singapore. The first council consisted of mainly doctors. We hope that more nurses and allied health professionals will play greater roles in future.

The society registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs on 24/11/2016 (UEN T16SS0212J) as a non-profit organization, and started organizing activities since then.

The society plans to develop guidelines for the treatment of heart failure, organize public as well as medical forums and collaborate with hospitals/professional bodies to further advance the treatment of heart failure in Singapore.
